Release of wire-EDM program expands CAM functionality PDF Print E-mail

With the new release of FeatureWIRE, a wire-EDM program, Engineering Geometry Systems (EGS) says it has now expanded the functionality of all its FeatureCAM products.

FeatureWIRE is programming for 2-axis, 2-axis taper and full 4-axis wire-EDM. EGS says the feature-based technology in FeatureWIRE includes designing parts using features such as dies and punches. Based on the features selected, the knowledge-based technology can automatically provide the operations needed for various cutting strategies and retrieves cutting conditions from the incorporated database.
The program's functionality includes support for skim cuts, no-core cutting and the creation of gears and cams. For 2-axis parts, the program supports constant and variable taper. For 4-axis parts, points from the upper and lower curves can be matched to specify synchronization points. FeatureWIRE also supports a wide variety of past processors, including Charmilles, Agie, Sodic, Fanuc and Mitsubishi. Find out more at www.featurecam.com.
