The L.S. Starrett Co. introduced the Galileo EZ, a compact manual vision system featuring live video camera feed and automatic edge detection via the new Metronics QC300 Digital Readout. According to the company, the Galileo EZ is an ideal video based measurement solution for general-purpose QA inspection, manufacturing and R&D non-contact measurement applications. It is a natural upgrade from a comparator, without the complexity of PC based software. The Galileo EZ features a precision mechanical bearing with a (X-Y-Z) measuring stage of 200x100x150mm or 300x150x125mm, six to one zoom video optics and a dual-output 150-watt fiber-optic illumination for the fiber-optic ring light. www.starrett.com

The new DT-10AS from Mitutoyo is an economical Rockwell Type hardness tester for material testing of a variety of soft or hard metal parts. The DT-10AS features a maximum achievable workpiece height using a flat anvil of 170mm with an adjustable dial indicator for easy zero-setting and fast part throughput. The manual arm actuator design starts the hardness testing process. A combination of weights to achieve 60, 100, 150kg loads are included as standard to cover the range of Rockwell scales. Immersion Corporation introduced its new MicroScribe X high-accuracy portable coordinate measuring machine (CMM) for the automotive and other manufacturers of precision components. According to the company, the MicroScribe X arm is conveniently compatible with third-party measurement and inspection software, giving manufacturers the flexibility to continue using existing software or choose the package best suited to their application. The system’s SmartCapture coil trigger deflects in any direction to help eliminate inconsistent pressure that adversely affects accuracy. Consistent or inconsistent pressure is signaled to the user with a green or red LED. The coil also isolates the probe from the user’s hand to help maintain constant temperature.
